罗湘林，湖南邵阳人，博士；教授，博士生导师。本科就读于华东师范大学体育系，获体育教育学士学位。硕士修读于华东师大研究生院，主攻运动心理方向，获教育学硕士学位。2002-2005年于北京体育大学攻读体育人文社会学方向的博士学位。美国北德克萨斯大学访问学者。

现任湖南师范大学体育学院体育人文教研室主任。担任湖南师大体育教师行动研究基地负责人；受聘于长沙市2个体育名师工作室顾问；并通过大中小体育一体化下的教师成长等教改课题，服务于广大中小学体育教师的成长与教学规律的探索；参加了教育部的体育美育浸润计划，以及中国扶贫基金会的西部加油计划（运动课程）；同时，作为国家级社会体育指导员，参与湖南省社会体育指导员的培训与指导，以及多个体育公司的体育产业规划。

主持国家社科基金项目2项，省部级课题4项，作为主要成员参与过多项国家及省部级课题。出版专著1部，参编教材3部，发表论文50余篇。

主要任教课程有：体育理论高级教程，体育文化学，体育心理学，学校体育学，体育教学论等；科研取向：“体育行为、心理及其文化”。
